Ken and Melissa Lester, owners of Lester Contracting, from Port Lavaca, Texas were one of 12 contractors hailing from a diverse cross section of the country who were named Equipment World magazines 2013 Contractor of the Year finalists. The Caterpillar sponsored Contractor of the Year program was created to recognize contractors who exemplify the highest standards of construction professionals: business acumen, equipment management expertise, attention to safety and community involvement. Richard Spence, HOLT Victoria is Lester Contracting sales representative who encouraged them to submit their entry form.
Each finalist received an expense-paid trip to Las Vegas on March 8-11, participated in an industry roundtable and awards banquet, where the 2013 Contractor of the Year was named. These contractors were also special Caterpillar guests at a NASCAR race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and will be featured in the pages of Equipment World magazine.
At the end of the evening, Scott Kelly, President of Enterprise Trenchless Technologies Inc., in New England was named Equipment World‘s 2013 Contractor of the Year.
