HOLT is proud to share that Garrett Mahaffey, Field Service Technician–HOLT CAT Cleburne, has been named one of just 10 Cat® technicians worldwide advancing to the finals of the Global Dealer Technician Challenge.
Presented by Caterpillar, the inaugural Global Dealer Technician Challenge was created to recognize the critical role dealer technicians play in delivering exceptional customer service. Open to independent Cat dealers who choose to participate, the competition highlights how skilled technicians power a high-tech, high-impact, high-demand career at the heart of the equipment industry.
“This hands-on, skills-based competition tests technicians’ agility, resilience, and versatility,” said Henry Venneman, Caterpillar Global Service Vice President. “These trained experts are on the front lines, keeping machines and engines running so our customers can complete their most critical projects.”
The challenge has unfolded through regional and semifinal competitions across the globe, with only the top performers advancing. The final 10 technicians will compete in March 2026 at CONEXPO/CON-AGG in Las Vegas, one of the world’s largest construction trade shows.
As demand for skilled technicians continues to grow, Caterpillar estimates that more than 44,000 new dealer technicians may be needed worldwide by the end of 2026. The Global Dealer Technician Challenge also aims to raise awareness of the long-term career opportunities available in this field.
“There are thousands of opportunities globally for individuals interested in a hands-on career,” Venneman said. “Cat dealers are looking for people who are problem solvers, mechanically inclined, and tech savvy.”
