Corey McGuire, Shop Supervisor for the HOLT CAT Power Systems Division in Longview, has been named the 2026 Area 3 Champion for Career and Technical Education (CTE) by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT).

The Champion for CTE Award recognizes business and industry leaders who actively support and promote career and technical education programs, helping students develop the skills and experience needed for successful careers. Area 3 encompasses 28 counties across Northeast Texas.

McGuire’s impact began when he approached Marshall ISD about bringing students to tour the Longview Power Systems facility. What started as facility tours quickly grew into a deeper partnership. In addition to hosting multiple student groups and providing an inside look at HOLT CAT operations, McGuire collaborated with Rick Elmore, Talent Outreach and Development Manager, to create an internship program at the Longview location.

Today, three student interns are actively working and training at the facility, gaining valuable hands-on experience while exploring careers in the skilled trades.

In her nomination, Charlotte Leon, Director of Career and Technical Education for Marshall ISD, praised McGuire’s initiative and commitment to students.

“Corey took the initiative to look beyond the age restrictions that so many companies hold to and found a way to champion students and leveraged his influence to expand, improve, and promote CTE.”

Leon also noted the significant impact the program has had on participating students.

“Marshall ISD is very grateful to Corey for finding a way to connect our students to true work-based learning as interns at the Power Systems shop in Longview. Beyond the technical skills gained through the internship, the students’ growth in professionalism and maturity throughout the semester was remarkable and inspiring.”

Career and Technical Education programs connect classroom learning with technical skills through real-world training and work-based learning experiences. By helping students gain exposure to industry careers and providing meaningful internship opportunities, McGuire is helping strengthen the future workforce while creating pathways to rewarding careers.

His recognition as the 2026 Area 3 Champion for CTE reflects HOLT’s ongoing commitment to investing in people, supporting education, and building the skilled workforce of tomorrow.
