Richard Spence is a HOLT CAT machine sales representative out of our Victoria store and has been with HOLT CAT for 30 years.
When Richard started with HOLT the company was named Holt Company of Texas with approximately 500 employees. As he can attest, lots has changed, but a lot has actually stayed the same. One of those things that has been consistent are the working relationship Richard has developed with other employees and his great customers. Many of these people have become his life-long friends and he would not trade for anything.
Early in his career, Richard says he discovered the passion that BD and Peter M. Holt (company founders) had for the business; he recalls that they "were always captivating, sincere and full of energy concerning our customers and the industry." This passion motivated Richard and he is proud to be part of the team.
The advice he gives to employees who are just starting out with the company is "EARS Open!” There is a wealth of knowledge and experience in the company. He encourages others to spend as much time with HOLT CAT’s long-time employees, there is so much to learn from them. He says his time with these pros has help him succeed.
When Richard is not out building customer relationships, he does everything he can to take advantage of all the outdoor activities the great state of Texas has to offer -fishing in the Gulf, hunting mule deer in West Texas, floating the Guadalupe or Frio rivers with family and friends or just piddling at his home in Goliad. He says he is happiest when he is enjoying the outdoors with his wife, or running the roads of South Texas, heading to another adventure!
