Schiedeck Will Go On to North American Finals in North Carolina
On Saturday, April 30, local machine operators competed in the second round of the Caterpillar 2022/2023 Global Operator Challenge at HOLT CAT in Little Elm, Texas. John Schiedeck, CEO at Schiedeck Construction Inc. and winner of round one in San Antonio on April 23, went on to compete and win against the victor of round two in Little Elm. Both competitions brought together machine operators statewide to showcase their agility, speed and accuracy in a series of skills-based tests. The challenges tested the operation of an excavator, wheel loader and mini excavator with tests such as loading precise amounts of dirt, hauling, and maneuvering through obstacles.
These competitions were part of more than 80 occurring worldwide in the next few months. Schiedeck will go on to represent HOLT CAT at the North American regionals in North Carolina in October 2022. The winner of that event will move on to the Global Operator Challenge finals at North America’s largest construction trade show CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023, March 2023 in Las Vegas, where Caterpillar will crown one operator world champion.
More than 10,000 operators competed in the first-ever Global Operator Challenge in 2019/2020 — with Canadian Jaus Neigum taking home the title "best in the world."
Through events such as the Global Operator Challenge, Caterpillar aims to highlight the operator profession and showcase the advanced skills needed to operate the machinery.
