On May 4, 2016, Alamo Academies hosted its first graduating class with the newest heavy equipment technical track. Of the 100-plus graduates, from five different technical programs, 11 high school seniors graduated from this newly-minted program. Along with Alamo Academies, Mayor Ivy Taylor and many industry leaders were on hand to celebrate these students and recognize their accomplishments.

HOLT CAT is Alamo Academies’ key partner for the heavy equipment program, helping students enter the workforce with specific, industry-aligned skills and education. Upon completion, each student received 33 hours of college credit while earning a Marketable Skills Award in Diesel Light/Heavy Truck Technology Mechanic Helper, OSHA certification, and Level I Certificate of Completion with the Alamo Colleges.

Alamo Academies is a national award winning, innovative, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) based instructional model operated by the Alamo Area Academies Inc. The model provides high school juniors and seniors with tuition-free career pathways into critical demand technical STEM occupations.
