- Warranty Update #0126
If an ECM was not replaced during a repair, the ECM part cannot be used as the part number causing failure in a claim.
Use the following criteria when reporting one of the following repairs:
Warranty/claims involving wrong flash file or customer parameter from factory
- Use either the flash-file number or substitute part number SP0775 as the part number.
- Use substitute group number 1920.
- Use description code (DC) 37.
Be sure to list the flash-file removed and flash-file installed on the engine in the claim story. The ECM part number can be used as the part causing the failure in a claim if the part is the cause of the failure and actually replaced. Check your Warranty Update as Policy claims will use different group numbers.
Warranty Parts Return
The part causing failure on a warranty claim will be the part Caterpillar will normally request for the dealer to return. This part number or reman part number will be listed in your claim expense detail. At times the claims analysts may request to see all the parts involved with the failure and this will be printed on the warranty parts request.
