Clad in her signature neck scarf and steel-toed work boots, Leticia Ortiz is ready for a morning moving dirt.
“I love to dig,” she says with a smile. She always has.
Seated high behind the wheel of a monster piece of machinery is a heady type of power — much more than you’d feel at the wheel of a car. The San Antonio native started a career in construction after graduating from high school in 1980. Now 61, Ortiz is a foreman at CPS Energy. She helps supervise construction workers at the city-owned utility company.
