GHS student takes advantage of HOLT CAT internship program

Goliad High School agriculture science teacher Nathan Hammack saw a spark in student Ivan Ojeda during a field trip last year to the HOLT Caterpillar Victoria plant.

“He was the very first one back on the bus,” Hammack recalled. “He told me, ‘I want to do this.’ ”

Thanks to a partnership between Goliad ISD and HOLT Caterpillar Victoria, Ojeda soon got his wish and is one of two Goliad High School students serving a diesel mechanic internship at the industrial equipment supplier.

“I’ve worked on engines since I was a kid,” Ojeda said. “I would help my parents fix their vehicles, and this is something that I’ve always liked to do.”
