A Workplace Bond: Tia and Matthew’s Love Story at HOLT CAT and Texas First Rentals

At Texas First Rentals and HOLT CAT, we are guided by our values—both on and off the job. This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating a couple who exemplifies those values every day: Tia and Matthew Meronek.

Tia, an Inside Sales Rep at Texas First Rentals, and Matthew, an Undercarriage Field Technician 3 at HOLT CAT, may work for the same family of companies, but their love story started long before their careers did.

Tia and Matthew’s journey began in high school, where they met and quickly formed a bond that led to marriage soon after. Over the years, they’ve built a life together, supporting each other through every challenge and milestone. While their jobs keep them in different areas of the company, their connection remains strong—on and off the clock.

When asked who the bigger workaholic is, Tia doesn’t hesitate: “100%, he is.” Matthew’s dedication to his craft is something she admires, but that doesn’t mean they don’t find time to enjoy life together. One of Tia’s favorite moments is when their schedules align, allowing them to share an impromptu lunch. “It's not an everyday thing,” she says, “but being able to share that time together is something a lot of people don’t get the chance to have.”

For couples who share a workplace, this couple has a bit of wisdom: working in different departments has its perks. “We get to share work conversations and insights, but we don’t share the same work problems,” she explains. This balance allows them to support one another without bringing too much work stress home.
