HOLT CAT was recently featured by KENS 5 after hosting its first-ever Technicians for the World Pre-Apprenticeship Day, introducing 25 local high school students to careers in diesel technology, heavy equipment, construction, and engineering.
The hands-on event gave students an opportunity to explore the tools, equipment and skills used by HOLT technicians while learning about rewarding careers that don’t require a traditional four-year degree.
“It’s a very good intro to what shop techs see, what they do, what tools they may need to get into the industry, and get a little hands-on feel for what it looks like,” said Kevin Royal, Service Manager, HOLT CAT San Antonio.
The KENS 5 story also highlights the growing demand for skilled trades and recent expansion of federal Pell Grants to support students pursuing short-term vocational and technical training.
