Tammi Tocci and her husband Neil have successfully managed the bulk specialty soils business for Greg Thompson Landscaping, just north of Denton, for the past two years. The business has always been in the family. Tammi’s father Greg started the business over 46 years ago, and still manages the landscape design and installation side of the company. Greg Thompson’s compost blends have been successfully used for vineyards, medicinal herbs, cannabis greenhouses, professional football fields, local vegetable gardens and award-winning lawns.
For many of those years they had depended on several smaller loaders, which recently have become unreliable, breaking down a lot. A reputation for durability and reliability drew them to look at Cat equipment.
“Our business keeps a loader running 8 to 10 hours a day nonstop,” said Tammi. “It needs to work hard and be reliable.” The company recently purchased a Cat 914 Compact Wheel Loader, which is larger than their previous loader. Their new CAT loader can now handle more product quickly, efficiently, and safer as well. She also finds it easy to use. “There are not a lot of women working out here,” said Tammi, “and women’s perspectives are good!”
