HOLT's local winner in the Cat Global Operator Challenge, John Schiedeck, Schiedeck Construction, won the regional North American round of the event and will represent HOLT at the global finals in March, 2023.
More than 2,500 machine operators were tested by their local dealers throughout North America between March and September 2022. This led to the best operators arriving in Clayton, North Carolina, USA, the week of October 17 ready to fight for two spots in the Global Operator Challenge Final.
The 35 operators who qualified for the regional event in North America were split into two halves – the East and the West. Both contests used the same challenge setup and included the following three pieces of equipment:
315 Small Excavator with Cat 2D Grade technology
950 Medium Wheel Loader with Cat Payload technology
420 XE Backhoe Loader
Global Finalists
Representing the East – John Schiedeck, HOLT CAT
Representing the West – Matt Ferris, Empire Cat
John owns Schiedeck Construction in Bastrop - a third generation, family-owned company focusing on earthmoving, excavation, and grade and slope work in Central Texas. Some of John's 12,000 followers on Instagram encouraged him to enter the challenge at HOLT in the spring. John won the event with the fastest time of 12 minutes and 44 seconds in three events. With the regional finals behind him, he will compete against operators from all over the world in the finals at CONEXPO in Las Vegas in March 2023.
