On September 9, 2011, The North Texas Corporate Recycling Association awarded HOLT CAT first place in the association's gR3een Awards, in the gR3een Whole Circle Award category. There were seven applicants in this award category.

In 2011, HOLT CAT formally embarked on an ambitious project to coordinate and quantify current recycling, reuse and reduction programs, to benchmark resource consumption and to define a corporate environmental philosophy and sustainability plan. The company is in the process of building on our already extensive recycling and reuse activities to add to corporate environmental goals and achievements. HOLT CAT is also helping customers achieve their environmental goals by providing products and services that reduce environmental impacts and communicating our philosophy and successes.
HOLT CAT, the largest Caterpillar dealer in the U.S., has 25 sales and service facilities spanning Texas. Six facilities located in the North Texas region have collectively achieved significant levels of materials reuse, recycling and reduction (R3). HOLT CAT partners with Safety-Kleen and local scrap recyclers to recycle used oil, oil filters, antifreeze, parts washing solvent and scrap metal on a continual basis, reducing oil use, greenhouse gases, heavy-metal emissions, landfilling and energy consumption as compared to manufacturing or refining new materials. The usable end products from this process include water, automotive grade fuel, industrial oil, heating fuel and purified motor oil sold by weight. From oil filters, the used oil is recovered and the filters are processed as scrap metal. The used antifreeze is re-refined into a phosphate-free antifreeze compatible with almost any vehicle. From these facilities, approximately 4,800 tons of scrap metal are recycled annually, providing substantial environmental benefits and an additional revenue source.
