HOLT CAT was selected by the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) as the recipient of the 2012 Air Quality Stewardship Award in the Large Business category, in honor of the company's voluntary actions to improve air quality and the natural environment in general.  The award will be presented during the San Antonio Fiesta Earth Day celebration at Woodlawn Lake on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 12:30 pm.

Among the many accomplishments for which HOLT CAT is recognized are:

  • In renovated building, 66 percent of construction debris was diverted from landfill and recycled at local facilities.
  • Renovated building to GOLD LEED-certification standards, utilizing solar panels and energy-efficiency measures, which in its first year offset 236,371 miles driven.
  • Recycle or reuse oil, anti-freeze, solvents, and scrap metals.
  • Use of low-VOC paint in paint booths, reducing VOC emissions by approximately 50 percent.
